Something Simple for a Change
Posted by Jonathan Ng | Filed under Technical
Finally, after using the old “jnls.net 3″ theme for nearly a year, I’ve had enough of red. I just didn’t like the colour scheme anymore… I wanted a change.. something simple (something I can quickly finish up). Heck, I was even tired of the typeface..
To top it all up, I wasn’t in exactly in a great mood.. it was tough going.. my Final Year Project is so friggin’ tough.. it looks really easy and straightforward on the surface, as it’s something everyone take for granted.. but wait till I tell you.. Read the rest of this entry »

Struggling to Find an Identity..
Posted by Jonathan Ng | Filed under Personal
Well, I certainly won’t say that I’m in an identity crisis… but certainly close.. sometimes I ask myself, where is this blog headed? Whenever I see some nice, interesting blogs (most recently: Timothy Tiah on his new dotcom) I tend to lean towards blogging in such a style.. I know it’s not good.. but, sigh.. I dunno..
Perhaps it’s best I first determine the purpose of Jnls.Net.. is it a personal blog? I don’t like the idea of bloging ’bout all your personal shit.. besides, I know I won’t.. unless I can type as fast as I think.. I think Jnls.Net is more of a place for me to share my learnings and discoveries in programming as I slowly (but surely) study for my Degree.. that’s really general y’know.. doubt it actually helps.. Some Updates to Jnls.Net
Posted by Jonathan Ng | Filed under Personal
Hello there! It’s certainly been a while since I acutally updated the site. No, I’m not talking ’bout blog posts (I don’t blog that often either), I’m talking about the blog in general. Of all my previous blog themes, most of them were hardly completed. No archives page, no contact page etc etc..
So finally, I can pride myself with a fully working, complete website/blog. Haha.. let’s see, I removed the “Contact” section since I doubt anyone would want to do so.. Labs is now Projects, and a Links section is added since I don’t have a sidebar. The projects section has a placeholder for my college assignments. I think I’ll add them at the end of this semester when I’m done with all my assignments.. Archives section now simply shows archives by month, as I expect that most people would prefer using the “Explore Bar” below or simply searching my blog.
Anything else? Hm.. enabled Akismet spam protection (using s00kwei’s API key :p), and hopefully I can finally ping pps with a fix documented here ages ago.
Oh, and Jeffrey just told me that ipserverone does offer 3 GB hosting for RM 99 a year (seen here). Unfortunately, I only saw this page, that shows RM 199 for 10 GB.. sigh.. thanks a million Jeff.. anyway, I’m sure easynet-interactive is still a great choice. The server does feel faster than my previous server, although it’s all the way in Dallas, Texas. Besides, you don’t normally get great server performance from hosts who oversell their packages..

Annual Host Change
Posted by Jonathan Ng | Filed under Personal
Haha.. it seems like I change web hosts every freaking year. So this time, I really hope it’s the last time I do so. I’m now on one of easynet-interactive’s packages. The promotion period during July entitled me to RM 25 off the RM 120 hosting price. 150 MB of space isn’t much to shout about, but hey, I hardly use much space.
All that might change in the coming months, as I plan to upload photos that I post here (in my blog) to this server instead of external services like Flickr. I once thought that it provided unlimited storage for free, but boy was I wrong. I didn’t even realize that the missing ads mean that there’s a catch somewhere: only 200 pictures allowed.
