Stan Chart Sucks!

For some reason, my company requires us to have a Standard Chartered account for payroll.

Thinking it’s some multi-national bank, I was expecting their service to be better than the average local bank, but boy was I wrong! The friggin officer treated me like I’m some kid!!

Yeah, maybe it’s coz of first impressions: I was there with my dad, I don’t have a business card, I asked about the minimum deposit to open an account.. SO?! The CRM tool asked for my annual income, which of course, only needs to be input as a range, but she decided to ask me “how much is your monthly pay?” If some stranger asked you such a question directly, would you answer immediately?

That fucking teller kinda rolled her eyes a couple of time.. wtf?! Who the hell do you think you are? You’re just a stupid front-desk officer! Hey, it’s not as if walked over to the priority banking counter..

I just hate these kinda people… everyone deserves respect, more so your customer!! No way in hell am I gonna get a current account, credit card, or any loans from stan chart in the future… obviously you don’t care about “poor” people like me..

I love my boss..

After about 2 weeks of “self training”, I was given a short test to evaluate my progress. During the test, quite a number of questions stumped me.. so being kinda worried, I had a talk with my boss..

Boss: About your test? Yeah, you passed it..

Me: I did? Well, there were quite many questions that I didn’t know..

Boss: Well, we use the same set of question for all interviews.. one may have 5-6 years of experience, and we give the same set of question also.. so don’t worry, you passed for beginner level..

Me: what the fuck?! DENG.. say earlier mar, make me so damn worried!! (not out loud lah of course..)

Evolving

Everyone does huh? 2 weeks ago, I’ve formally embarked on a new journey in life – work life. It’s no longer a part time, internship kinda thing anymore.. this is the real deal. I remember being a teen and even a college kid, drooling over the RM2k+ I will get every month.. boy oh boy, all the stuff that I can buy with that kinda money!

My first paycheck’s pretty much round the corner, but it doesn’t really make much of a difference. As a college kid, you won’t really know what additional expenses are involved in life. I only had to pay for meals, and whatever money (which can be as cheap as RM3 a meal) I saved from meals goes directly to entertainment. Sadly, not anymore.. I’ve gotta pay for everything on my own!

I’ve also found that my interest in photography is waning.. probably due to a bunch of reasons. Firstly, I’ve still got a pile of photos from UK that I’ve yet to process. I also need to select those that I wanna print. This alone would probably take a month or two.

My work now is pretty boring – it involves self training. I’m given some material, and I need to learn up the system. So when I come back from office, I just relax a while, chat online, and spend around 15-30 minutes reading a little bit more before sleeping. Hardly much time left to even process the photos.

Last but not least, it’s the financial goals. I’ve set out some financial goals, and one of them is obviously to be financially independent and stable. It’s nice to have some money in the bank for a rainy day right? Some may measure this “stability” as having some savings to last a or two month being jobless, covering basic expenses and stuff. But for my cousins, the first financial goal a freshie like me should attain is to try and build up 3 months pay as cash reserves. That’s not money to “survive” 3 months, but 3 months of actual salary. Next I guess would be to look into possible long term investments, and pushing this cash savings to 6 months worth. I’ve also got some more important, long term goals.. which really puts photography out of the picture, pun intended :p

Sigh.. so much for work life..

Second Shoot

Wee~~~ I’m so lucky.. right after shooting Ginyi at KTM station, Kloee asked me to take some pics of her and Shue Vern.. So we decided to meet up around 8.30 in the morning at KLCC, I managed to get there on time, just to wait an hour for them :( what to do.. free models..

Kloee at KLCC

The morning session was okay.. the weather wasn’t nice, and the security guards didn’t allow photography with equipments such as tripods.. we tried to make the best of things though.. here’s Shue Vern trying to make Kloee smile for the camera..
