啊姐 and “Mom”

Sadly, during the farewell dinner, all of us were so busy laughing, I forgot to get a picture with my 啊姐 (which means Sis) and my “Mom”.

There’s no complicated and long story as to why I call Sharon and Iris 啊姐 and “Mom”. They’re both years older than me, so I call them that. As to why Iris get’s the “Mom” title, is coz she’s just more mother-ish - more commanding, more, erm.. fierce? Hahaha..

My 啊姐, so cute.. how to call her tai-yi-ma?

It’s basic human nature to be inspired and motivated by some goal. If it’s something too distant, it seems unachievable. There’s not much of a purpose if it’s too immediate either. These 2 girls, my dear啊姐 and “Mom”, seem to fit perfectly.

I mean, they seem to have “the life”. One of them aspires to buy a house for her parents in KL so that she can be near to them. She doesn’t come from a wealthy family, and being the only daughter, she hopes her parents can live a good life. The other one, arguably coming from a better family background, already lives a good life. Expensive watches, nice cars, beautiful home, shopping sprees..

Okay, maybe they’re not the best role models. They’re not millionaire entrepreneurs, nor does she have a Rolex, a Merc and a bungalow (with a Kone elevator inside), but hey, it’s still a start. Getting to know them gives a glimpse into the rewards awaiting hard work – the good life, and the ability to provide for my parents. But I know my mom would be happy with a plasma screen and the occasional overseas trip :p

In 20 days time, I would be in Liverpool. In 4 months time, I would be job hunting – finally an official degree holder, stepping into the working world. Yeah, sure enough I have to treat soooo many people to endless lunches and dinners, I need to get that lens and flash for her wedding, need to get medical insurance and the list goes on and on. It’s weird, I’m not all excited and pumped up about the Liverpool trip, but rather the life after the Liverpool “excursion”.

One day, I would that expensive watch, that full-frame dSLR with Carl Zeiss lenses, a nice, non-local car, a beautiful home, that plasma screen for my mom, that sound surround system for my dad (he’s got poor hearing), hmm, what else.. a dog?

I have to tell you, she looks like a school girl when dressed in simple tee and skirts

Will you take me home??
