Hasta La Vista, Kone

Truth be told, I’ve never heard of Kone Elevators. Heck, I even pronounced it as “cone”, not “koh-nee”. I’m sure everyone has heard of Otis or Schindler - coz when you step on or off an elevator, you’re probably looking on the floor, watching your step. There, a nice badge spells out “Otis” or “Schindler”. Here’s a quick one: ever notice that our Putra LRTs are made by a company called Bombardier and is > 10 years old? :p
Anyway, my 3 month term here at Kone is coming to an end. As I’m drafting this, it’s another week before system go-live, and another week more before I exit hell. Hokay hokay, it’s not that bad..
For me, work is still work. Working with people may not always be easy as everyone has got a job to do. Nevertheless, the people I’ve met here have been absolutely terrific. Well, at least it’s way, way better than HSBC - There’s more pretty chics here! :p

Of course, special mention goes to Iris, or sometimes “Aunty Iris”, or simply “Mom”. I don’t call her “aunty/mom” coz of her age, she’s not that old, but it’s just the way she treats me. Kind, but yet, erm.. mother-ish? Sometimes she’d just IM me and say “eh, come here”. If it’s late, she’d offer to drive me home, but then she’d keep nagging me: “eh, faster lah.. so late already, how you going back? very few buses now right? faster lah.. i wanna go already..” Geez! As if I’m purposely dealying her.. I’ve got work mah!
I owe Iris, Sharon, Jeff and Ee Lin many, many thanks. Combined, they have saved me dozens of hours waiting for the damned bus, and of course, a lot of walking. Come to think of it, there’s much higher chances of me getting dengue, considering the number of mosquitos at the bus stop by Jalan Penchala. My record kill was about 5 mosquitos I guess..
Am gonna cover Iris’ wedding come December - hopefully I have proper gear by then - 4 gig card to shoot RAW, F42 flash and maybe a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8. May even get a battery grip! But then she says “dont use my wedding as excuse to buy things”.. How not to call her “mom”? :p Would love to cover Sharon’s wedding too, since I don’t recall going to Kuantan. Jeff’s wedding? Well, great opportunity to go for a vacation at Sabah I think..
1 month left before Liverpook.. woo-hoo!!
Klo-Ee-Lin - Pt 2

A couple of weeks back, Klo-Ee asked me to join her on a day trip to Melaka on Prophet’s birthday. It was a public holiday, so I thought, what the hell.
To my horror though, Vi King ffk (fly aeroplane in Canto) at the very last minute - leaving me to lamp post Klo-Ee and her boyfriend (who goes by a more normal name of Nicholas, as compared to Klo-Ee) for the whole friggin day.
First stop at Melaka was for breakfast. I had baba laksa, or something like that - basically laksa with a whole lot of coconut milk. The highlight of the day for me was the cendol!! Laced with durian, it’s the ultimate Malaysian dessert!

The Melaka trip was basically a eating + photo-snapping outing. So we just walked around the usual tourist spots around Melaka taking pics. Read the rest of this entry »
