Klo-ee-lin - Pt 1

It’s ironic that I always whine about being bored on weekday nights at home, but have hardly updated my blog. So here I about what led to “Klo-ee-lin”.
Well, about 3 weeks ago, I got my Sony A200 dSLR camera!! Unfortunately, I got it on a Sunday, so I didn’t have much of an opportunity to play with my new toy. I ended up camwhoring a bit at home..

I also tested A200’s high ISO performance - it supports up to ISO 3200! I took the picture below of my uncle’s altar - almost in total darkness, except for the candle. ISO 800 produces pictures that are pretty usable and pictures at ISO 1600 are still acceptable. This one’s on ISO 800 - you’d hardly notice any noise on a PC screen, or on a 4R picture.

You see, there’s a limited number of Sony Alpha SLR users, so the Alpha community’s pretty active. The weekend following my A200 purchase, there was a TT (teh tarik aka technology transfer) session at Starbucks Pavilion, followed by night shooting at Putrajaya. Met many great Alpha users there, including the Albert and Jason Goh.

During the TT session, everyone was taking turns trying out Albert’s 200-400mm (coupled with a bunch of teleconverters) and Nic’s Carl Zeiss 135mm f1.8 lens. I didn’t try the 200-400mm, but I did try Nic’s 70-200mm G lens and the 135mm - I’m a fan of large apertures, not sniper lenses :p
When we got to Putrajaya, the more “senior” Alpha-ers were busy setting up their A700s for wireless trigerring to get the matrix effect. All I got was this picture. Should’ve taken it at a diffent angle to full capture the reflection. Hm, if I went much more to the left, I could’ve set the CZ at 80mm and if I walked right, close to the bridge, could’ve set the CZ at 16mm, damn!!

Anyway, back to the TT session at Pavilion - I snapped this girl having coffee wit her friend using the 70-200mm and tried a little lomo like post processing..

Check out my flickr page for more photos :)
Then there’s this girl, Chloe - lucky girlfriend of Nic - so many lenses to borrow :p

I don’t know why, but she keeps showing this face. Wonder if she’s smirking..

Hm, perhaps it’s a facial muscle problem.. involuntary muscle twitch of some sort..

Okay, “Klo-ee-lin” part 1, “Klo-ee” finished, “lin” coming up next :)
