Huay Meng, avid DotA player: “Warcraft how to spell ar?”
One of our lecturer keeps saying “Okay? See the output yet?” while were still coding.
Huay Mengm, obviously still strugling: “Deng.. Output, output.. Lia ma put~ no lar…”

His teammate: “sorry ar.. i still dunno how ur system works lar… can explain again?”
Denis, on being in group with 2 of the worse students in our group: “Girls see that two brothers also sien diao jor.. so they see me always with them, see me also sien diao..”
Students from penang branch: “when develop system, identify the data you want to store, then identify your system functions..”
Friends can be great source of humour. It’s always fun to be around with them. Good luck to you guys in this coming “war”…
Some Updates to Jnls.Net
Posted by Jonathan Ng | Filed under Personal
Hello there! It’s certainly been a while since I acutally updated the site. No, I’m not talking ’bout blog posts (I don’t blog that often either), I’m talking about the blog in general. Of all my previous blog themes, most of them were hardly completed. No archives page, no contact page etc etc..
So finally, I can pride myself with a fully working, complete website/blog. Haha.. let’s see, I removed the “Contact” section since I doubt anyone would want to do so.. Labs is now Projects, and a Links section is added since I don’t have a sidebar. The projects section has a placeholder for my college assignments. I think I’ll add them at the end of this semester when I’m done with all my assignments.. Archives section now simply shows archives by month, as I expect that most people would prefer using the “Explore Bar” below or simply searching my blog.
Anything else? Hm.. enabled Akismet spam protection (using s00kwei’s API key :p), and hopefully I can finally ping pps with a fix documented here ages ago.
Oh, and Jeffrey just told me that ipserverone does offer 3 GB hosting for RM 99 a year (seen here). Unfortunately, I only saw this page, that shows RM 199 for 10 GB.. sigh.. thanks a million Jeff.. anyway, I’m sure easynet-interactive is still a great choice. The server does feel faster than my previous server, although it’s all the way in Dallas, Texas. Besides, you don’t normally get great server performance from hosts who oversell their packages..

Simple File Management on Your Server
Posted by Jonathan Ng | Filed under Technical
It all started when I was sick of free services that offered to host photos for you. They all had a catch. Flickr could still be considered if you solely wanted something to display some photos in your blog. However, the process of uploading to posting wasn’t that quick either. I wanted something lighter..
So I found File Thingie, a small file manager written in PHP. It’s free for non-commercial user. Simply set the folder in which it works with, and upload it. No installation required, sweet. I really liked it’s lightness, but I still felt there were room for improvement. This is mainly due to the fact that I want to upload photos, so a feature that previews them would come in handy. In short, here’s a list of the modifications made to File Thingie: Read the rest of this entry »

Annual Host Change
Posted by Jonathan Ng | Filed under Personal
Haha.. it seems like I change web hosts every freaking year. So this time, I really hope it’s the last time I do so. I’m now on one of easynet-interactive’s packages. The promotion period during July entitled me to RM 25 off the RM 120 hosting price. 150 MB of space isn’t much to shout about, but hey, I hardly use much space.
All that might change in the coming months, as I plan to upload photos that I post here (in my blog) to this server instead of external services like Flickr. I once thought that it provided unlimited storage for free, but boy was I wrong. I didn’t even realize that the missing ads mean that there’s a catch somewhere: only 200 pictures allowed. Imagine Cup Malaysian Finals (Software Design)
Posted by Jonathan Ng | Filed under Personal
The Imagine Cup is an annual competition organized (and sponsored) by Microsoft. Check out the detaials at TheSpoke.net.
So yesterday, the finals for the software design category was held at Microsoft’s auditorium at KLCC (29th floor, Tower 2). TAR College had a team (Creative Brains) which made it into the finals, so they wanted us to, basically, go support them. A college bus was arranged for us, and we were leaved at 7.40 in the morning, supposedly reaching there for breakfast at 8.30. Nuts, we we’re still stuck at Jalan Genting Klang at 8.40.
