Jnls.Net v3 Preview

Just uploaded this evening, revision 3 of my site’s design is out. Based loosely on the previous design and Alvin Woon’s blog, the main visual difference is the white background for the main content area.

Several improvements were achieved in this revision. Firstly, I wanted to split/categorize all posts into 2 areas, personal and technical. This way, those of you who aren’t too keen on the techinal jargon can skip striaght to posts about my life. Three tabs were added on the left, allowing users to choose to show all posts, or just the personal or technical related posts.

The visibility of the navigational links in the current design is one major shortcoming that I never overcame, somehow. They just don’t cry out to be clicked. But now, together with the site logo (my name, duh~), it’s positioned smack right in the middle, and the color’s got better contrast. Also, the “explore-box” is shifted to the bottom. This gives me much more space to display the data.

It’s the 2nd day I’m working on it, and I once thought a day would suffice. It’s just not east, slugging your way through those codes. There’s plenty more tweaking to be done with the design, then I’ll have to make the category switching thing work, about page, search, archives….

p/s, tabs are neat =P
