Google What?

Google Analytics, a free Web analytics software was launched about a couple of days ago. As I was already using ShortStat, and my site being ad-free, I naturally didn’t find the need to flocking to it. And I’m sure glad I didn’t.

Google, yes, the company that claims to have super huge, often-envied-at farms of servers, had reliability problems. According to here, numerous parties had trouble logging-in and worse off, wasn’t even getting any stats.

Stephen Bryant have even some additional comment on Gmail, claiming problems receiving mails. Well, I had some similar problems with Yahoo and Gmail once, so it didn’t bother me much.

As for Google Reader, yes, it’s very broken. If you’ve used Gmail before, you’d certainly have quite some expectations of it. Too bad, it doesn’t work at all. I couldn’t even add a single feed to it. The AJAX page would just show “loading…” forever.

Luckily, there weren’t any complaints (as far as i know). Sometimes, I wonder why Google is trying it’s hands at nearly everything. Sure, analysts come up with a whole bunch of predictments. But I sure don’t see it making any headway with such a wide variety of products, from sidebars to IM clients. Heck, with flops like Google Reader and reliability problems with Google Analytics, I sure would think twice before trying any other new product.
